What: Bring science learning to life! Our local environment can provided rich science learning experiences for students. Learn about the resources available, including the recently published K-12 California Education and the Environment Initiative Curriculum, student field experiences, and laboratory lessons at Elkhorn Slough Estuarine Reserve. Stipend for Teachers: Classroom teachers may receive a $300 stipend for attending all three days!

California Subject Matter Project Education Conference
Teacher Professional Development for Teachers Grades K-12
What: CSMP, Monterey Bay Region has created a professional development event for K-12 educators. Participate in engaging workshops for teachers and administrators in all content areas. Keynote by Dr. James H. Newman, a professor of Space Systems at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA and a former NASA astronaut. James will discuss his experience as an educator including a focus on the discoveries and spectacular images of the Hubble Telescope. View agenda and workshop descriptions.

Teacher Professional Development for Science Teachers Grades 3-8
What: A unique teacher profession development opportunity for Santa Cruz County Educators who teach Science in grades 3-8. View this flyer for more details.
When: 2012 Summer Institute and 2012-2013 School Year
Participants Receive: $35/hour, up to $3,000 per year, a UCSC Environmental Studies student in your classroom, and continuing education units.
How to Get Involved: This is preliminary expression of interest in support of a grant proposal process. Please complete this short form by August 31, 2011 to express your interest and help the grant submission process.
