The California School Garden Training Program (CSGT) is a series of free garden-based education workshops being presented across the state from 2012-2014. It includes workshops on Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden (CSYSG) and Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education (GENE). CSGT also involves Train-the-Trainer Workshops, in which new leaders are trained to replicate the CSYSG and GENE workshops.

 

Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education Workshops

Spring 2013: Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education (GENE) Workshops
The Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education (GENE) workshop is for educators interested in using existing school gardens to enhance nutrition education for children and youth.  In the spring of 2013, 6 GENE workshops will be offered across California.

Spring 2013: Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education Train-the-Trainer (GENE 3T) Workshops
The Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education Train-the-Trainer (GENE 3T) workshop is for experienced school garden educators and support professionals looking to replicate the GENE workshop for educators in their region. In the spring of 2013, 6 GENE 3T workshops will be offered across California.

 

Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden

Statewide Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden Workshops
CSYSG is a workshop for school garden teams working to create or enhance their school garden.
CSYSG Mini-Grant awardees will be providing 30 CSYSG trainings across the state during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden: Train-the-Trainers (CSYSG 3T)
Six CSYSG 3T Workshops, serving 82 school garden support professionals, have been completed across California. 3T participants will be providing 30 CSYSG trainings across the state during the 2012-2013 academic year.
