Life Lab

Life Lab cultivates children's love of learning, healthy food, and nature through garden-based education.

Food, What youth in GoodTimesIn the December 15th cover story "Smells Like Teen Spirit" of the GoodTimes, Food, What youth participant Able John was highlighted along with 5 other inspiring youth. Able states:

“I remember being really small and not liking vegetables very much, but maybe I didn’t like them because I never had them,” Abel says. “It’s really important that low-income families and poor neighborhoods can have easily accessible organic food.” He adds, “You do organic farming because it’s great for the soil and everything around it. I also do organic farming for my community. If people have the opportunity, they will eat better and be healthier and have a healthy state of mind. And that in itself can help you with so many different problems within your life.”   Read more from Able's interview

Able will continue to be a part of Food, What next year as he was hired as a Junior Staff to work with the 50 new youth participants in 2011!

Terry had another awesome two weeks at Life Lab. I think he learns more there than in any other part of his year. School is great, but he’s passionate (and often dogmatic) about what he learns there.
