For several years, the Garden Classroom on the UCSC Farm sat quiet and still because of the pandemic. Wonderfully, this past summer, something beautiful happened: Life Lab’s summer camp in the Garden Classroom came back to life!

But the quiet years left their mark.

  •  Outdoor tables had become wobbly and splintered. 

  • Shade umbrellas had frayed edges and holes, offering less relief from the summer sun. 

  • Even the once-beloved outdoor kitchen had dulled.

  • Repairing or replacing deteriorated outdoor tables so that children and interns can gather, create, and eat together comfortably.

  • Providing new shade umbrellas, offering relief and rest from the late-summer and early fall sun.
